I reply KC that I’ll reply his reply on the previous post in this post and I’m going to reply it now
So in case some of you don’t want to go to previous post and view the comment, I’ll paste here to let you all see
His comment was
“I’ve only completed my SPM & enrolled into the School of Hardknocks. Now I’ve engineers working for me.
Eat your heart out!
Cheers.”
Maybe some of you might think that I’m hostile towards his comment. Nope, I don’t feel it that way, in fact I’m totally agree with his comment.
You know, one thing that I noticed so far when I’m in engineering industry, the higher that education qualification one has, the higher ego one has. And I realized that one can be more kiasu if one has higher education qualification. They have to protect their pride.
They will have this mentality that “I’m a university graduate and a degree holder, hell no I’m not going to work for such low pay.”
Give you an example
When a job offer where the salary is only rm2k for fresh grads is given to 2 different people, a 1st class honor grad and a 2nd class lower grad, you’ll have 2 different reply
For 1st class honor grad, he/she will go..”nah..I’m 1st class honor student, rm2k is too little for me, I’m a 1st class honor student worrrrrrrrrr….rm2k is not acceptable for me”
and
For 2nd class lower grad, he/she will go..” ahh…a job..luckily I still able to get a job.”
If they fail to do something, people will go “How can!!you’re Ph.D holder or Master you know…how can you don’t know????”
You see, from there, the 1st class honor grad’s pride is at stake. So they will work harder to prove themselves.
I mean, it’s good to work hard to prove yourself but work hard won’t get you to anywhere.
Work hard but the boss doesn’t like you, you won’t go anywhere far from where you are now
Work hard but the boss doesn’t know, you too won’t go anywhere far from where you are now.
YES, my point is to work smart and attitude. I mean it is pointless if you have all the dean list during your university years, the only benefit you have over those who have lower grades than you is higher STARTING pay and the speed of getting a job.
It might take you 1 month or even before you graduate to have a job offer while 3 months for the 2nd class lower grad to have a job offer.
When you have the job offer and are into the industry, you’re on your own and you have to be smart to survive out there.Especially engineers is getting more and more on the street these days, competition is high in engineering industry.
So about KC’s comment, he is one of the good example that lesser education qualification has lesser pride to protect and has nothing to lose. So he will go all out and try, even though he failed, he is able to climb back up again fast because his pride is not hurt that much. The education qualification pride I mean.
So my advice to those who are going to grad this year or going to grad or still have few years more in university, please lower down your expectation and please don’t be too proud of your education qualification as the world outside, don’t even give a damn to your qualification if you don’t play your cards right
As one of my manager told me, “it doesn’t matter how you start your career because what does really matters at the end of the day is where are you when you retire”
Hope this statement able to make some of you pondering tonight
Have a good night sleep my readers
Have a nice weekend too
I gotta go to harvest my fruit in Farmville now

p/s: I’m not generalizing the whole situation, it’s just my point of view. I know out there, there are a lot of true engineers. Kudos to them

The more you study and it doesnt mean that you will earn more. that’s the conclusion

Exactly….that is what many fresh graduates fail to realise…but when they find out the truth, they “tumbuk dada” sendiri
