Music is an element that shape my daily life. A day without music is like a day without oxygen for me. Yea, music is that important to me.
But there are few songs that really inspire me. Songs that lift me up when I’m at the lowest point of my life.
1st : Nelly – N Dey Say
Lyrics:
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
let’s go (ha-haha-ha-ha)
ohhhhh N Dey Say ohhhhhh oh ohhhh
hold up, stop now, let me get a look ‘cha
damn girl i aint seen u since prom
come to think about it cant believe it’s been that long
i heard your man locked down now
how long he gone? oh, dat long
how the hell he get time like that
3 strikes for possesion aww he ain’t coming back
he left you with two kids and bills all around
plus you found out he had another chick cross town
it’s always the darkest right before the sun rises
and you gotta stay strong for the kids in they eyes’n
please dont despise and go against all brothers
and have a hatred in your heart and take it out on
another
i hate to sound 2pac-ish li’l mama keep your head up
but your gonna make it i promise you keep your head up
and that that dont kill you only makes you stronger
and the will to succeed only feed the hunger
fo’ reel (fo’ reel, fo’ reel)
(ha-ha-ha-ha-ha)
ohhhhh N Dey Say ohhhhhh oh ohhhh
(ha-ha-ha-ha-ha)
ohhhhh N Dey Say ohhhhhh oh ohhhh
i was at the gas station when a man walked past
with a sign…’will work for food, clothes or cash’
and he asked if he could pump my gas so i let him
clean the windsheild and throw out the trash so i let
him
hey, i even asked a brother his name
where he was from, got kids man and what’s they ages
he kinda stared for a second, he kinda looked suprised
that anyone would even take an interest in his life
he said, young brother them the only words i’ve heard
in the last year
wasn’t no or get the fuck away from herrrr
how could something so simple as general conversation
mean much more than general conversation
hey you could tell life had beaten him down
like he was in the title fight and this might be his
last round
sometimes the easiest things we take for granted
until they gone then realized we even had it
fo’ real (fo’ real, fo’ real)
(ha-ha-ha-ha-ha)
yeah, hey ohhhhh N Dey Say ohhhhhh oh ohhhh
(ha-ha-ha-ha-ha)
yeah, hey ohhhhh N Dey Say ohhhhhh oh ohhhh
i used to think that life had a plan for me
until i realized life had to be planned by me
see that’s the key i only deal wit what i can see
cuz over history, mystery brought us nothin but misery
man more people done died in the name of the Lord
then in any natural disaster, disease or gang wars
before guns they was swords and they was killin each
other
Nothin’s changed to this day still killin each other
killin a brother while another mother cries for help
man, we need to help a brother find himself
feed ‘em light 1, 2, 3
hey! that’s somethin every brother should see
and thats fo’ real,
and thats fo’ real,
and thats fo’ real
(ha-haha-ha-ha)
yeah, hey, ohhhhh N Dey Say ohhhhhh oh ohhhh
(ha-haha-ha-ha)
hey ohhhhh N Dey Say ohhhhhh oh ohhhh
(ha-haha-ha-ha)
2nd: Last Emperor – Do You Remember
Lyrics:
At times, I feel old like I’m going out of style
So I turn down the music on my FM dial
I beg of you to come and listen for a while
And look at this wonderful world through the eyes of a child
This is my chance to escape today
And I don’t want to see my dreams chased away
Inside the palace gates is where I stay
‘Cause the world is no longer a safe place to play
Its like the story of the little wooden boy
Who wanted to live the life that every child should enjoy
I heard it once of twice before
The world is yours for you to explore
I heard my calling as a child and I answered it
When I grow up and finally get my chance to fit
I’ll be the sort of man you can’t forget
I used to stair up at the sky on my camping trips
In this quiet night of quiet stars
Of quiet chords on my guitar
Kids out there, I know it might be hard
But I realize how alive you are
CHORUS
One day I’ll travel from the East to the West
And tap into the hidden strength that all men possess
I’ll always be young, see a young mind is fresh
And its clear my memories will one day disappear unless
Do you remember?
Yes I remember
Do you remember?
Some say the price of life has a costly amount
When it comes to fights, I might’ve lost me a bout
But I’ve never lost my head ’cause that would cost me a scalp
So when my heart became cold like the Austrian Alps
I used to use my aggression, just to hurt mics
In ’86 my whole crew was in to dirt bikes
Like the GT Predator or a Mongoose
Listen as I ride the rhythm and let the rhymes loose
This is what makes my life so real
I’ll take my chances and spin the wheel
I can’t wait to grow up so I’ll know the deal
But right now I’m a child and this is how I feel
My younger days were sort of tragic despite
I learned to unify the pen and pad with the mic
I might need a little magic tonight
‘Cause to me imagination is the fabric of life
My rhymes helped me many times grow’n up
Before keep’n it real, all the days are blow’n up
I put on shows in my room- nobody show’n up
I’m just a little guy now, but when I’m old enough
CHORUS
That was my train of thought
I notice that nowadays, there are too many love songs. Songs that send the wrong message to listener. Songs that show how life is perfect. How love is perfect. But there are too little songs that actually talk about life.
Maybe people enjoy listening to things that perfect. I don’t know but I think enough for this post. Just trying to share with you guys the 2 songs that inspire me:).
Enjoy the songs
