Last weekend, I brought my dad to Starbucks in Gurney Plaza. Treated him a cup of coffee of the day. Both of us sat down to enjoy the black coffee while waiting for my mum to do her shopping, alone. Sorry but shopping is just not in our male gene. Both of us were facing outside and just looked at people walking by Starbucks.
Then I turned to him.
“Dad, do you know this is our generation lifestyle right now?”
“What do you mean?”
“Everything involves money right now”
“Everything is about branding right now”
“No one cares about how much you have in the wallet or how is your personality when they first meet you”
“People will judge on what car you drive? What is the brand of your shirt and pants? What handphone you’re using? What is the brand of your spectacle? What is the brand of your watch?Where do you eat?Where do you do your yamcha session? How big is your house”
“Worth or not worth is no longer a factor for most people when buying those things”
“Social status is our lifestyle right now”
Happy Working Tomorrow, People!
